Anna Adams-Sarthou, Founder & Principal
Anna Adams-Sarthou is the founder and principal of A.S. Comms, a strategic and crisis communications firm offering services in public policy and issues management, crisis, message development, reputation management, legacy development, branding and public and media relations. Anna is a seasoned Communications strategist, with years of experience in the government, corporate and nonprofit sectors, including managing strategic messaging, crisis communications and public affairs. Anna has a strong background in public and media relations, having fostered good relationships with members of the media across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Pennsylvania, in New York and Washington, D.C. as well as internationally.
Before founding A.S. Comms, Anna was Communications Director for the Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention. In this role, she built, oversaw and managed the organization’s Communications Department and was responsible for all communications, strategic messaging and public relations related to the organization and its efforts.
Anna joined the Host Committee from New York City, where she had spent the last several years working in New York City and New York State politics. Most recently, she was Deputy Press Secretary for Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, where she acted as point person for media from a variety of outlets across the state as well as managed major initiatives of the administration. Before joining the Cuomo administration, she was Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T in New York City, overseeing communications and management of AT&T’s reputation and Foundation sponsorships in the city. She was Communications Director and Deputy Chief of Staff for New York State Senator Michael Gianaris and began her career in the press office of New York Governor David A. Paterson, where she held a variety of roles culminating in Acting Press Secretary towards the end of the administration.
Anna serves clients across a range of sectors including politics, public policy, higher ed, tech, nonprofit and beyond. Among her roster of former and existing clients are AT&T, University of Pittsburgh, American Beverage Association, Rebecca Rhynhart’s successful 2017 campaign for Controller of Philadelphia, former PA Governor Ed Rendell, Pittsburgh Innovation District, The Arena Summit, Starfinder Foundation, Sunday Suppers Philly and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
Anna was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and lives in Pittsburgh, PA. She has a B.S. from New York University.
Mark Nicastre, Strategic Partner
Mark is the founder of Fitler Square Strategies, a communications and advocacy consultancy. For nearly eight years, Mark led communications for Governor Tom Wolf, overseeing media relations, digital communications, and marketing for the governor and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mark has developed and executed strategic communications plans for elected officials, organizations of all sizes, and state and national issue advocacy campaigns.
Mark led communications efforts for all of the governor's major initiatives and crises for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tree of Life Shooting, the Amtrak derailment, numerous weather emergencies, and other complex responses. Mark oversaw communications for all commonwealth agencies, covering issues ranging from the opioid epidemic to health care reform to economic development.
With Governor Wolf, Mark oversaw more than 100 media, digital, and marketing professionals across two dozen agencies and offices. Mark modernized the commonwealth's marketing efforts and oversaw a marketing office that ran approximately $10 million in paid media each year. Mark built the digital team from a single digital staffer to a professionalized operation of more than two dozen staff.
Before working for Governor Wolf, Mark served as the Communications Director for Sen. Bob Casey's 2012 campaign and now-Sen. Ben Ray Lujan's first Communications Director with his congressional campaign and congressional office. Mark also served in several communications and strategy roles with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.
Mark also worked on issue advocacy campaigns with Spitfire Strategies, covering almost every state and a wide range of issues from children's health insurance to environmental protection.
Early in his career, Mark worked for the Mack/Crounse Group (now Deliver Strategies), where he wrote copy for some of the most competitive elections in the country.
